ELECTRONIC PUNK

radio... and its... s..l... o..w painful death. after 5 years of podcasting (it's not even my job nor do i benefit financially from it) i have been able to find "NEW" music, every single week, and i discovered many unappreciated artists every single week (and shared it with my podomatic friends). it irritates me when i try to listen to the radio and the dj's (whom do get paid for playing music) claim to play "the latest music", "commercial-free hour" or "you're favorite" BULLSHIT. listeners hear what they want to hear but i hear TOTAL LIES, because I KNOW MUSIC, I play NEW MUSIC. I take no credit, because the hard-working, innovative, and sometimes brilliant artists I choose to play don't get the recognition they've earned. If a pop superstar releases a new song, it only has to be good in order for it to put on heavy rotationa and they play the shit out of it. I don't play "good" or "new" music. i simply suggest it to my listeners and if they need to know every fucking fact and detail about the artists, or their story, or who they married, and why they're breaking up, or where they're from, my listeners are smart and they can do the research themselves,or become a fan, or just skip and ignore it. But I'm never going to tell them lies nor force it down their throats. From my personal experience, i've come to realize that musicians generally have 10 to 20 decent ideas that could POSSIBLY be good, and 5 or less "exceptional/groundbreaking/fantastic" songs. Given these facts and the fact that we can find information and music so quickly on our own via the internet, why do they keep palying songs that are more than 2 years old? is it just me that feels cheated and lied to by radio? Radio is mediocre, short-sighted, censored, filtered, and watered-down for the masses. AND with radio you have to listen to what's in their best interest, not the listeners, not the artists, but rather for the money. I give my listeners more value, more diversity, more freedom to choose, and i might go as far as saying something that is new.
